Trading on TradingView
Place your first trade on the chart, set your protection, then modify or close it.
All steps
This is the one that matters: your first trade, from open to close, right on the chart. The same steps work for everyone. Take it slowly, start small, and you’ll have nothing to undo.
Connect Pepperstone to TradingView
This is the quickest part — about two minutes, and you only do it once. It gives you live prices on your charts and Buy and Sell buttons that work straight from the chart.
- Log in at tradingview.com. Click Products in the top menu, then Supercharts.
- On the chart screen, click Trade at the top-right, then find Pepperstone in the list of brokers and click Connect.
- Log in with your Pepperstone details and click Approve Access.
- Done — your Pepperstone account name now shows at the top-right of the chart.
- On your phone (optional): download the TradingView app from the App Store or Play Store, log in, open a chart and connect to Pepperstone the same way.
On your computer
- Check you’re connected. Your Pepperstone account name and balance show at the bottom of the chart. If not, go back to Connect Pepperstone to TradingView above.
- Under Symbol Search, click the white Pepperstone icon.
- Now when you search for any instrument, they’ll only show Pepperstone charts — and you can trade on them.
- Click Buy or Sell. The trading panel opens on the right. Choose your order type: Market (buy or sell now), Limit (at your price or better), or Stop (once price passes your level).
Then set the order up in the same panel, top to bottom:
- 1 Set your size. Clear the size box and key in 0 to see the minimum. Watch some instruments — Gold, for one, trades in lots of 100.
- 2 Set your take-profit and stop-loss. In the Exits section, set where the trade closes in profit and where it closes if price turns against you — before you place.
- 3 Check your lot size. The Order info line at the bottom confirms the lot size you're about to trade.
-
Place it. Press the Buy or Sell button to confirm. Your open trade then shows in the positions panel at the bottom of the chart — ready to manage.
-
Two ways to manage your trades. Either one works any time the market is open.
-
On the chart. Your entry, take-profit and stop-loss each show up as their own line. To move one, drag the line up or down. To cancel a pending order or close an open trade, click the ✕ on its line.
Your entry, take-profit and stop-loss each sit on the chart as a line you can drag. -
In the trading panel at the bottom. This is the same panel your trade appeared in. Each position shows its take-profit, stop-loss, profit, used margin, commission and swap. Use the pencil to change a trade or the ✕ to close it. The tabs along the top — Positions, Orders, Order history, Account summary — are also where you check your past trades and what each one cost.
The trading panel at the bottom: the pencil modifies a trade, the ✕ closes it, and the tabs hold your history.
-
-
Tidy the chart if it gets busy. Don’t want the trade lines and labels on your chart? Right-click the chart → Settings → Trading, then untick Positions and orders. Unticking Execution marks as well clears the leftover markers and keeps the view clean.
- If TradingView ever has a problem, you can manage the same trade from your trading terminal instead.
On your phone
- Download the TradingView app from the App Store or Play Store and log in.
- Open the chart and connect to Pepperstone.
- Access the trading panel.
- iPhone: tap the Buy/Sell buttons at the top.
- Android: tap the two-arrows symbol at the bottom.
The panel opens with the same fields as on computer — set your size, your take-profit and stop-loss, then tap Buy or Sell to place.
- Monitor your trading positions. Tap the Pepperstone icon at the bottom to open the positions panel — your balance, open trades and history all live here.
That’s a trade on the chart, from open to close. The last step is your trading terminal — the full platform behind your account, and your backup way in if the chart is ever down.
